Careers In Business: Human Resources Sponsored by the ECO and UVACC (Tuesday, November 19th 2024, 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm EST)

When: Tuesday, November 19th 2024, 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm EST

Location: Monroe Hall, Virginia, United States

Most medium to large employers have employees working in Human Resources (HR) functions. What does a job in Human Resources look like? It may not be what you think. HR is an important department for businesses across all industries. HR staff manage the human capital of an organization! Jobs may be quant-heavy, focused on interacting primarily with people, or something in between. These jobs are not your parents’ HR jobs. Most HR jobs today require some understanding of and facility with data and project management. HR teams may manage recruiting, hiring and dismissing, onboarding new hires, administering compensation, analyzing performance, training employees, and building systems and infrastructure for employees.  HR professionals come from many different backgrounds and may have studied business, cognitive science, economics, languages, law, math, psychology, sociology, and more.Join us for an engaging panel on Tuesday November 19th from 5-6pm where Professor Emma Harrington, alumna Lauren Nelson, Associate Director of Compensation at Chewy and other guests will discuss these areas and share their insights and personal journeys with you. We'll provide an opportunity for networking after the panel. This program may be virtual and this will be determined by November 1.Sponsored by the ECO and UVACC
