Peak Tide is a Charlottesville-based lower middle market private equity fund set up to acquire a business through a buy-out transaction. Peak Tide’s founder, Megan McGee, is a UVA Darden alumna and former startup founder/ business operator sponsored by 25+ entrepreneurs and investors. Peak Tide will acquire a private business valued between $12M and $60M, which Megan will operate as CEO post-close.Analysts will participate in the core activities of operating a small private equity firm, with emphasis on industry/company analysis, list building, and email outreach. Activities include ideating industries, building lists of companies to contact, emailing business owners, evaluating acquisition prospects, conducting financial analysis, and building investor pitch decks. Learnings will include how to evaluate acquisition targets, approach sellers and build relationships, and navigate the diligence and acquisition process.Responsibilities:
- Research and identify attractive industries based on investment criteria
- Develop and screen lists of hundreds of businesses as potential acquisition targets
- Scour online resources for accurate contact information to include in emails
- Prepare communications to reach business owners through emails, letters, and calls
- Review and analyze confidential information about potential business acquisitions
Requirements:
- Attention to detail and willingness to conduct tedious list building and Excel analysis
- A skilled understanding of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is a must
- Understanding of accounting, balance sheets, and valuations is a plus
- Highly motivated, resourceful, and persistent in identifying and contacting targets
- Interest in private equity, investment banking, finance/accounting, or entrepreneurship
