This course covers the origins of environmental problems and ideas about how to solve them, the allocation of exhaustible resources over time, valuing  ecosystem services, and managing renewable resource such as water, fisheries, forests, etc. We will look at how sustainability concepts are treated in economics and how economics can help achieve sustainable development.

This course takes a microeconomic approach to macroeconomic policies, with special emphasis on monetary and fiscal policies and their impacts on inflation and economic activity. Focus is on the connections among theory, institutional design, and actual data, including historical episodes.
