GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under the direction of the Health Officer, directly responsible for providing support for structured community engagement activities designed to incorporate diverse community perspectives into system change strategies to improve health in Saginaw County. Develops reports relating to public health issues; facilitates prioritization of community health needs; identifies best practices in program development, and manages Department's grant writing. Plans and executes special projects. Performs related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Public Health or related field required, Master’s Degree in Public Health preferred. Must possess background in public health assessment, data interpretation and statistical analysis, and strategic planning. Three to five years' experience in public health, assessment, strategic planning, grant writing, or performance management required. Previous experience with community health improvement planning models such as Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships (MAPP). Previous experience with utilization of community engagement models. Skills in leadership, management, meeting facilitation, and grant writing. Must possess department and community health needs assessment and improvement planning knowledge. Knowledge of performance management systems such as Turning Point Model and quality improvement methodologies such as Plan Do Study Act (PDSA). Ability to analyze and develop performance standards and measures related to public health. Excellent speaking and presentation skills. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with advanced computer skills to develop reports, charts, graphs, and other statistical data. Ability to self-motivate and work independently. Knowledge of current principles and practices of public health epidemiology and use of qualitative and quantitative data. Knowledge in policy development/planning. Ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders, including internal staff, community partners, and local/regional/state public and private agencies.
